Dallin H. Oaks named as the 18th President of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints
The announcement was made on October 14, 2025, during a live broadcast from Salt Lake City, Utah.
President Dallin H. Oaks has called President Henry B. Eyring and President D. Todd Christofferson to serve with him as First and Second Counselors in the First Presidency.
For more information about the announcement or the Presidents, click HERE.
“Our ministry is a ministry of all the children of God on the face of the earth,” President Oaks said. “We pray for all. We seek to serve all. And we invoke the blessings of the Lord Jesus Christ upon all who seek to serve Him, to do so in worthiness and commitment and optimism. We do not have the answers to all the world’s problems. They have not been revealed. But what we do know is that we are all children of heavenly parents, and that we are called to serve all of the children of God.”

We celebrate the life of our beloved Prophet, Russell M. Nelson
At 101 years of age, President Russell M. Nelson is officially the oldest president in the history of the Church. His life was spent healing hearts, first physically as a world-renowned heart surgeon, and then spiritually with his lifelong call to serve in the Church. Read more HERE.

TEMPLES
"For Latter-day Saints, a temple is different from other Church buildings. The temple is a place where Latter-day Saints receive special instruction about God and Jesus Christ. In the temple, members make eternal covenants (or promises) with God. This includes promises to keep the commandments, live the gospel of Jesus Christ, be faithful in marriage, and to help take care of each other by sharing what we have.
Also, because we believe families are forever, much of the work done inside temples is to make family bonds even stronger. Marriages in the temple are performed to last eternally, not just “until death do you part.” Parents and children become eternal families in temples. Ancestors can also receive all the blessings of the temple if someone performs the sacred ordinances in their behalf and they accept that act of service. Temples are busy places!"
The Roanoke Virginia Temple was announced in October 2023.
Check back often for news on the site location and construction progress.

RECENT STAKE ACTIVITIES

Our Stake Relief Society (women's group) held a workshop on Finding Joy. We all gathered, learned, and shared ways we can find joy in our daily lives.

In August 2024, we served The Salvation Army of Martinsville. We painted, scrubbed, sorted, repaired, and cleaned as much of their building as possible in about 4 hours. During that time we laughed, told stories, and got to know each other better. We appreciate The Salvation Army of Martinsville and the service they provide to our neighbors and friends. We hope they enjoyed being served for a change.

The Stake Youth Conference was July 11-13 in Palmyra NY. They were able to tour the Sacred Grove, the Smith homestead, the Grandin Printing Press where the Book Of Mormon was published, and more. They were also able to participate in baptisms at the Palmyra Temple. The trip helped solidify their testimonies in the Restoration of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Stake Young Women's Camp was held at Craig Springs Retreat in New Castle, June 17-21, 2024. The theme was "LOOK UP", which was chosen by a local young woman. Approximately 100 young women attended and the leaders did an amazing job at making camp a spiritual experience for all. The girls were able to build relationships with each other as well as strengthen their relationship with their Savior as they "LOOK UP" to Him.
On May 25th, approximately 50 stake members served at The Rescue Mission of Roanoke. We made bagged lunches, chopped veggies, cleaned the chapel & dining areas, watered plants, tested & sorted donated video games, served lunch, helped wth office work, and sorted other donation items. Everyone involved had a wonderful time.
